What way of traveling is very hipster-ish? Easy, going by bike: a fixed-gear bike. However, the only problem with these bicycles is that you can’t easily store them in your office or barn without losing a lot of space. And that is when Vancouver-based company Hurdler Studios comes in. This studio created the solution to this first-world problem and it’s called The Clug.

 

So what is it? The product consists of two objects, which can be screwed into the wall. They are capable of holding each bicycle, enabling the bike to stand to the wall. The project is currently on Kickstarter, where the team is seeking funds. They initially 3D printed the product and the first group of backers will get a 3D printed version of The Clug. Hurdler Studios wants to turn to more traditional ways of manufacturing in the future in order to reduce costs. On its Kickstarter page, the team explains why they came up with the idea:

 

“We all cycle into the office but where to store them all became a problem, it really started to look a little messy. When we looked a little further we saw the same thing elsewhere too… We considered installing a winch system, or some clever hooks, but being designers and with our 3D printer so close to hand we thought we’d see what we could come up with to solve the problem for ourselves. Holding the bike in roughly the position we wanted it to be in, it became fairly obvious that all that was needed to keep it there was a very small attachment to the wall so we set about defining exactly what that attachment would be. And the result is CLUG.”
